What is a lateral flow test strip?

A lateral flow test (LFT) strip is an antibody-based assay used to detect the presence of a target analyte in a sample. LFTs are inexpensive and simple to use. On their own, they are limited to providing a qualitative result, but with mReader LFTs now provide lab quality quantitative results quickly, at a fraction of the cost, and with the added versatility of the Lab-on-Mobile Device Platform.

How does mReader quantify a lateral flow test strip?

mReader is built on Mobile Assay’s Lab-On-Mobile Device Platform and employs Mobile Image Ratiometry (MIR), Quantitative Ratiometric Pixel Density Analysis (QRPDA) and other proprietary imaging algorithms to optically measure the analog signal on an LFT and convert it to a digital quantitative result.

How accurate is mReader?

mReader is as accurate as traditional stand alone laboratory grade readers but with the added versatility of a mobile platform.

Can mReader replace my stand alone LFT reader?

mReader can be used as a handheld mobile diagnostic device, as a dedicated laboratory reader, or both. Mobile Assay has developed a housing system for laboratory settings that streamlines Real Time Quantification and large batch diagnostics. Because of its unique design, going bench to bedside or lab to field is as simple as popping your phone out of a case.

How much does mReader cost?

While Stand alone LFT readers, which only quantify a few types of tests, can cost upwards of 1500 dollars, mReader offers a significant cost savings with the added versatility of the mobile platform.

What kinds of lateral flow test strips are compatible with mReader?

mReader is compatible with any brand or type of LFT.

Is mReader compatible with colorimetric rapid diagnostic tests?

Yes, in addition to lateral flow tests, mReader provides quantitative results for calorimetric RDTs such as urine assays.

What mobile devices are compatible with mReader?

mReader is compatible with tablets or smartphones running on Android or IOS.

How does mReader boost the sensitivity of lateral flow test strips?

With mReader it is possible to detect a signal in an LFT that is not visible to the human eye. This feature can boost the sensitivity of the test anywhere from 10 to 100 times what the LFT is rated for.

What is Real Time quantification and what are its advantages?

Based on LFT kinetics, Real Time Quantification is a feature of mReader that allows a user to obtain a quantitative results as an LFT is developing. Measurements can be obtained in a fraction of the time it takes to run a lateral flow test traditionally. Real Time Quantification improves efficiency without sacrificing accuracy.

Does Mobile Assay provide support for mCommerce through the mReader app?

Yes, mReader can be securely configured to allow for in app purchasing of your company’s lateral flow tests and other products.

Can my company customize mReader for our purposes?

Is a cellular of wifi connection needed for mReader to function?

No, reader functions in the absence of cellular or wifi connections; results are uploaded to the cloud the next time a connection is available.
